Tianjin Textile Museum Plans to Open to the Public in Airport Processing Zone Next Year

The preparatory work of the Textile Museum which records and preserves the one-hundred-year history of Tianjian Textile Industry is undergoing in Tianjin Airport Logistics Processing Zone. At the time of being an important part of Tianjin Industry Tourism, this museum is expected to open to the public next year.
The museum in preparation is located on the second floor of Tianfang Building in Tianjin Airport Logistics Processing Zone. Its total area is 1,500 square meters. The exhibition theme is “One Hundred Years in Retrospect of Tianjin Textile Industry” in accordance with the general planning. The textile industry has been a leading industry in Tianjin once and possesses one hundred years of glorious history. Therefore, this museum will display the days of glory and times of despair, important transition and the rapid development of the productivity on Tianjian Textile Industry by such materials as photos, documents, certificates, products, facilities and the living materials.
The preparatory work of this museum plans to start this April and the planning framework is completed currently. The work of the exhibit collection has been officially launched since this June. The exhibit collection mainly includes such cultural relics which can reflect Tianjin Textile Industry’s development of the various stages as workshops, facilities, production and living materials, certificates, documents and historical data, books and records, materials and clothing. Thousands of valuable exhibits have been collected form the textile companies, the employees of the textile companies and the family members of the employees within two months. These exhibits include the old photos, the documents and account books dating from the 1920s, the certificates dating from 1940s, the land photos dating from 1920s and etc. At present, this museum is collecting the cultural relics and clues related with the textile industry from the public.
Since the Tianjin Airport Logistics Processing Zone established the new-high textile industry park in 2003, 14 projects have gone into production successively among 20 projects. The Textile Museum is incorporated into the list of Tianjin Industrial Tourism. After the completion of this museum, it is not only used to preserve the historical materials but also open to the public to tell the one hundred year’s development of Tianjin Textile Industry.
