China's import of T/A USD 8.646 billion in Jan. to Jun. 2006

China's total imp. & exp. value of foreign trade recorded U.S. dollar 795.739 billion in Jan.-Jun. 2006 increasing 23.40% compared with the same period of last year. Among them, export was 428.593 billion dollars, increasing 25.20%; while import was 367.146 billion dollars, increasing 21.30%. Trade surplus was 61.448 billion dollars, which is released by China Customs.
Official statistics made by China Customs showed that China's total imp. & exp. value of textile and apparel in the first half 2006 reached 72.678 billion dollars, increasing 21.94% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 9.13% of China gross imp.& exp. value of foreign trade.
Gross import value of textile and apparel reached 8.646 billion dollars, up 5.88% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 2.35% of gross import value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile import was 7.855 billion dollars, increasing 3.98%% compared with the same period of last year, and apparel import was 0.791 billion dollars, increasing 29.34% compared with the same period of last year. The favorable balance of textile and apparel trade reached 55.386 billion dollars in Jan.-June, 2006.
Gross export value of textile and apparel in China was 64.032 billion dollars, increasing 24.49% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 14.94% of gross export value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textile export was 24.505 billion dollars, increasing 19.69% compared with the same period of last year; and apparel export was 39.527 billion dollars, increasing 27.66% compared with the same period of last year.
Among the main export countries and areas of textile and apparel, USA was the top one, Japan and Hong Kong PR China became the top two and three. In Jan. to June, 2006, China’s export to USA reached 8.853 billion dollars, increasing 1.22% year-on-year; export to Japan was 8.779 billion dollars, increasing 9.09% compared with the same period of last year; export to Hong Kong PR China was up to 8.434 billion dollars, up 24.31% compared with the same period of last year. Total value of export to the above three countries and area reached 26.066 billion dollars, taking up 40.71% of total export of textile and apparel. Export to EU reached 9.822 billion dollars, increasing 10.52% compared with the same period of last year. The statistical said that in the first half 2006 China's export of textile and apparel to EU and USA reached 18.674 billion dollars, increasing 5.90% compared with the same period of last year, taking up 29.16% of China's total export value of textile and apparel. Export to other non-restricted countries reached 45.357 billion dollars, increasing 34.18% compared with the same period of last year, taking up 70.83% of China's total export value of textile and apparel.
Among the main import countries and areas, Taiwan PR China, Japan and South Korea became top three. In Jan. to June 2006, the import textile and apparel from Taiwan PR China, Japan and South Korea was 1.598 billion dollars, 1.537 billion dollars, and 1.272 billion dollars separately, up 0.73%, down 4.52% and down 3.72% separately on the previous year.
